Premier League Season over

Posted by Scott on May 20, 2008

And my Newcastle United side, finished the season in 12th in the Premiership. A decent position considering that at one point during the season this team looked bound for relegation. Between the chafing mismanagement by Sam Allardyce, and the initial adjustment to the managerial style of the returning Kevin Keegan things looked gloom. However the Toon managed to run off a decent unbeaten streak relatively late in the season to get well above the drop zone. Hopefully this puts us in a good stepping stone for next season. Kevin Keegan has already stated claims that the goal for the team is 5th place. I’m a bit leery of those claims, but we’ll see how this summer’s transfer market goes.

Once again, Manchester United finish on top of the league, it’s 10th title since Sir Alex Ferguson took over as the manager there, and they’re playing Chelsea (whom finished second) in the Champions League Final. This final will be the first time two Premier League teams faced each other in the final. I expect it to be a good game, despite the questionable pitch in Moscow.
