Wings in a familiar place

Yep, first place in the Central Division. Been there a lot over the past 20 years, but this team isn’t playing anywhere near as well as the team that won the Stanley Cup last season as recent losses to the Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins, and Pittsburgh Penguins have shown. Still plenty of work to be done, but being in a leading spot in the conference, and having a majority of the season to go will do nothing but help. Injuries haven’t helped matters either, but everyone has injuries during the season.

Compared however, to many of their primary rivals in the Western Conference, the Wings have been about par. The team that is looking good at least early in the season is the Todd McLellan led San Jose Sharks whom currently have the best record in the NHL at this point.
